This is done to give the players a water break because of the heat and humidity. Also, during this game, lightning came up and the game was called three minutes into the 2nd half with Southridge ahead 42-6. I had never before seen a game called off because of anything.

The whole Spartan team works hard. There are 69 varsity players with an average Parallel Squat of 380 pounds, an average Power Clean of 195 pounds, an average Bench of 210 pounds, and an averge forty of 4.961 seconds. Forty-six out of the 69 players ran 4.99 or faster. Twenty-eight run 4.78 or faster, nine players run 4.54 or faster and three run 4.47 or faster.

The Miami Southridge Spartans have been perhaps the best Florida High School football team in the 1990's. They had 29 straight victories at one point and have produced players like Heisman Candidate, Troy Davis and five current NFL players. They are, at this writing, undefeated and looking forward to another year in the playoffs.

We thank Coach Walencikowski and Coach Guandolo for being Upper Limit examples who have created an atmosphere that breed Upper Limit students and athletes. It was pure joy to be around the Spartans of Southridge.
ries. Our athletes continue to enter each contest strong, rested and confident.

_____________________

Leigh Anne Hardin
She's Still the One!!!

In the fall 1997 issue of the BFS Magazine readers were introduced to the remarkable Leigh Anne Hardin. At the time, Leigh Anne was a starting guard on Martinsville High School's girls' basketball teamini is my kind of coach. The man is passionate a3, but during the match, Mark was thinking he could win a criteria tiebreaker if he let Rinke score to make it 4-4. A year later Mark realized had he given that point away, he would have lost. Mark claims, God taught me it's the little things that we do with no expectation of reward that shows who we are and brings great things to pass.

THE DUPONT TRAGEDY

John Dupont, one of the heirs to the Dupont fortune, created tragedy for himself and the Schultz brothers. The story was headline news for several weeks. Mr. Dupont was a wrestling fan and even dabbled in the sport himself. With his money, he sponsored a team and built a wonderful facility on his estate. After the 1987 world championships, the Schultz brothers became part of the Dupont's Foxcatcher wrestling team. Mark remembered with remorse in his eyes, I think Dupont is someone who was self centered and overly concerned with his own personal gratification. I was a very happy guy, and he made me miserable. Mark further explained how Dupont had a way of sucking the life out of you.
Trying to concentrate on training for the Olympics made it very difficult being around Dupont. Mark feels he would have been better off had he never associated with Dupont. Wrestling wasn't fun any more for Mark, so he retired. Years later, his brother Dave went to train for the 1996 Olympics with Dupont's team. On a cold January afternoon at the Dupont estate in Pennsylvania, Dave Schultz was fixing the radio in his car when Dupont pulled up in his car and shot Dave three times with a .38 caliber says Al
